ENG:
The Mooncake Festival is a Chinese festival which
takes place once a year during
the full moon. It celebrates successful harvest
and the moon, which in Chinese tradition is associated with youth and
fertility. During the holiday,
a cake in the shape of a full moon is eaten. It is small and can have a
variety of fillings. I tried cakes with fillings
such as mango,
nuts, red beans and
egg yolk. Obviously I liked
the mango filling mostly.
We celebrated together with GMI students who had organized the whole festival- lanterns, cakes as well as a brief introduction - and had prepared a very funny movie that introduced the legend associated with the Moon Festival. Everyone received a lantern in the middle of which was a candle, as well as the opportunity to sign a few lanterns / balloons that floated into the sky.
